This is an add-on plug that can run through the KASA app and it reports watts. It can be set on a timer to turn devices on/off. There are code samples for how to control this via WIFI from Raspberry Pi. For example, VIAM.com has a tutorial for putting a PM2.5 sensor on a Raspberry Pi and have it turn on the switch (to an air filter) when the air quality drops too low.
There is also a power strip HS300 that has 6 switched plugs that each how power monitoring separately (and ability to turn on/off) and USB charging.
These can report into the Sense.com app to give more accurate info on these devices and also be controlled to turn on/off manually.
